:Having just watched the episode myself, and being American... I was under the impression that the joke was that they wouldn't actually name their (potential) son "Edward, after the King" - because being Welsh, they would have identified that name with King Edward I "Longshanks" as someone who had forcibly conquered Wales.  (Considering that Rhys shares his name with a Welsh King).  Edward I (and son, Ed II) was depicted on film in the movie Braveheart, attempting to do the same thing to Scotland (he's not very nice). Joke about King Edward

Could someone explain that joke that Rhys told for the Americans watching this? Why was the potato funny? dposse 18:39, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
