Mutter's Spiral[[edit]]
Gabby writes in her sketchbook: "The Doctor says we're much nearer the galactic core here..." Since he does not say "its galactic core" or "the galactic core of its galaxy" when talking to Gabby, a native of Earth, it must be in the same galaxy as Earth, i.e., in Mutter's Spiral. - This sounds rational. If the Doctor were to say, "We're on an asteroid 3 times the size of the sun", it can be safely assumed he means our sun, aka Sol.

But here Gabby retells what he told her, moreover, the way her sketches are introduced at the beginning of this story, she writes these notes as if for Cindy, who has never set foot outside Earth yet. When an Earthling writes "the galactic core" to another Earthling on Earth, the frame of reference is really really fixed. Plus, the story makes a big show of how Gabby is psyched about being on an alien planet, how everything is different there. There is no way she would have missed the fact that it is a different galaxy altogether. Amorkuz ☎ 13:35, April 10, 2017 (UTC)
