The Chamberlain was a Jacondan who was loyal to his master, Mestor. His was an authoritarian personality. When one of the Jacondans, a porter, tried to steal vegetables from the Royal Hatcheries, the Chamberlain turned him in to Mestor and Mestor killed him by means of an embolism.
