Haroun ed-Din was a resident of Lydda during the Crusades.
When he refused to give his daughter Maimuna to El Akir, the Emir, while Haroun was away with his other daughter Safiya, burned Haroun's house, killed his wife and son and stole Maimuna. Haroun, left only with Safiya, swore revenge on El Akir. In 1190, he assisted Barbara Wright in escaping El Akir. He told her his story, and introduced her to Safiya. When Barbara was recaptured, he broke into El Akir's palace, stabbed and killed the Emir, freed Barbara, and was reunited with his daughter. (TV: The Crusade)
