Sir Henry Rugglesthorpe was an aristocrat. He lost a card game to the Celestial Toymaker. Given a chance to recover his losses, he failed to win a game of snakes and ladders as well. The Toymaker therefore changed him, his family and servants into the red pieces of his living chess board. Sir Henry was turned into the King piece. They were later used when the Toymaker played against the Fifth Doctor. (PROSE: Divided Loyalties)
