William Cuthbertson was the official artist of a Scottish expedition to Antarctica in 1903.

When the other members of the expedition had been spirited away by the "ghost" of Allan Ramsay, Cuthbertson assumed he would be next. However, on Christmas day, he met the Second Doctor, Jamie McCrimmon and Zoe Heriot. Jamie played the bagpipes, and the others sang along, which brought back the missing members of the expedition.
