Winstanley was the squire of Devil's End. When the Third Doctor and Jo Grant asked for directions to the Devil's Hump, he asked the Doctor whether he was one of the television chaps, much to the Doctor's resentment. The Master wanted Winstanley to start behaving like the squire and arrange a meeting, and Winstanley said that he would thank the Master not to take that tone with him. The Master used powers that had been used in the recent hours at Devil's End to prove to Winstanley that he controlled the powers in Devil's End, and Winstanley briskly arranged a meeting with some of the villagers. He was killed by Bok when he refused to serve the Master. (TV: The Dæmons)
