He spread tales about Brett to cause delays in the work in order to guarantee his continued employment, and stole pelts intended for the fur room so he could sell them in Anchorage. When the reviving Permians inadvertently created monstrous hybrids, Gaborik believed they were Sedna's familiars, seeking revenge for Brett's desecration of the land.
