The Shift was a Gabrielidean soldier in the Gabrielidean military who fought for the Time Lords during their war against The Enemy. He was injured whilst on Simia KK98 and encountered an incarnation of the Doctor. Following his encounter with the Doctor he was taken by The Enemy and changed from a liquid based life-form (as a Gabrielidean) to an idea based life-form and became known as The Shift. He/It attended the auction for The Relic on Earth with the aim of making sure none of those invited obtained it. (EDA: Alien Bodies)
