The First Empire Wars, also simply referred to as the Empire wars, were a series of wars, including civil wars, carried out by the First Skonnan Empire across the galaxy.

In the short span of time, the Empire conquered a hundred worlds, their military dictatorship extending over one hundred star systems. However, the noble families began to fight amongst themselves, emperor following emperor in quick succession, with even rival emperors rising against each other. The subjugated planets began to revolt, the occupying armies retreating.

The empire finally collapsed from within after the last devastating civil war, known as the "great civil war," was fought on Skonnos itself and left the planet in ruins, the capital shattered, the sole survivors being only a handful of senior officers and a few squads of troops. The neighbouring planet Aneth suffered far less in the wars. (PROSE: Doctor Who and the Horns of Nimon)
