Jessica Hynes (born Jessica Stevenson in 1972) played Joan Redfern in Human Nature and The Family of Blood and her great-granddaughter Verity Newman in The End of Time, Part Two.

Jessica Hynes is an English actress and writer, most renowned as one of the creators, writers and stars of the UK sitcom Spaced (alongside Simon Pegg). She was known professionally as Jessica Stevenson until 2007.

As a teenager, Hynes was part of the National Youth Theatre company, and made her screen début in 1993 playing the First Midwife in Peter Greenaway's The Baby of Mâcon. For the first fourteen years of her career, she used her maiden name as a stage name.
