Bess Carstairs was the mother of Jake and Vienna Carstairs. She was also the wife of Brian Carstairs who she co owned a hotel with. She was invited to the Chelsea 426 flower show her and her children went. But her Husband could not go. Instead the Doctor who was a guest at their hotel. At the show she was infected a long with a dose of other people the Rutan virus. She was forced to fight when she was infected with the rutan virus. As the Sontarans had invaded Chelsea 426.
