Rembrandt van Rijn was a Dutch painter.

A museum in Amsterdam was devoted to his legacy. (COMIC: The Broken Man) His paintings included The Night Watch (AUDIO: Dust Breeding) and Vessels of the Stars. (AUDIO: The Waters of Amsterdam)

In 1983, Kyle visited an exhibit of Rembrandt's work in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. When Kyle referred to him as "the Master", the Fifth Doctor initially believed that he was referring to his enemy and fellow Time Lord.
