Metebelis III was a planet in the Acteon Galaxy. The Doctor has attempted to reach Metebelis III several times, eventually suceeding and meeting some of the native wildlife.
Features
The blue moon of Metebelis III causes the whole planet to have a blue tint at night. It has a wide variety of habitats, having forest, snowy mountains and dry plains. Metebelis III has giant snakes and birds and a sentient species. (DW: The Green Death)
The blue crystalss of Metebelis III can break hypnotic spells (DW: The Green Death), enhance intelligence and also enhance psychic powers. (DW: Planet of the Spiders)
History
The Doctor visited Metebelis III at an unknown time period, during which time he stole a crystal. (DW: The Green Death)
At some point in the far future, a Human starship crash landed there. Humans and sheep survived the trip, as did some spiders. Over the course of millenia, the crystals mutated the spiders into the Eight Legs. The Eight Legs enslaved the humans and also harvested and ate them.
The Doctor's theft of one of the crystals caused the Great One to retrieve it. The series of events which followed after led to the replacement of the crystal which flooded both the body of the Doctor and the Great One with radiation, which caused the death of the Great One and the regeneration into his fourth incarnation. - When mentioned in The Green Death, Metebelis III the Doctor said Metebelis III was located located in the Acteon Cluster. This may be another name for the Acteon Galaxy.
