Lerox was not like other Sontarans. For one thing, he had a conscience and he saw Colonel Snathe's plan as completely mad. This was proven correct when he and Rose found a shrine constructed in Snathe's quarters. He defended Rose from Snathe who attempted to shoot her and he didn't enjoy hunting the Inuks like the other Sontarans did. He also showed a respect for females and a disgust of cold-blooded murder. (COMIC: The Betrothal of Sontar)

Commander Lerox was a Sontaran serving on the mining vessel Betrothal of Sontar on the planet Serac.

Personality

Being one of the few Sontarans 'tainted' by old-fashioned genes from ancestral lines, Lerox owned a strong conscience and a kind soul. He was righteously sickened by how many Sontarans slaughter the innocents for sport and by Colonel Snathe. He also showed a respect for females as proved with Rose Tyler who he befriended, impressed by her courage and compassion..... and who he defended from Snathe. He also showed zero qualms on letting the Tenth Doctor , an enemy of the Sontarans, go..... most possibly coz he understood a fellow defender of right and wrong. (COMIC: The Betrothal of Sontar)
