Alan Flanagan wrote the The Seventh Doctor: The New Adventures audio story The Jabari Countdown.

Outside the DWU, he has written for Big Finish's Dark Shadows series since 2013, and has also written for television and theatre. He has also acted in, and directed, some of his own works.

In 2010, Flanagan received an award at the International Dublin Gay Theatre Festival, for "best new writing" for his play Billy Redden.
