Laurence Scarman was a scientist, and brother of Marcus Scarman. He lived in a small English village in 1911 and invented a primitive radio telescope. After encountering the Doctor and Sarah Jane he got involved with the Doctor's battle against Sutekh, and even traveled briefly in the Doctor's TARDIS, but he was killed by his brother Marcus who was under the control of Sutekh.
