Marcus Mortimer directed the Doctor Who mini-episodes A Fix with Sontarans and the Roland Rat: The Series special, he also produced the latter.
Prior to making his directorial debut, he worked as a production manager on several episodes of Blackadder and The Young Ones.
He also directed all of the TV comedy skit show, Victoria Wood (As Seen On TV), one episode of which included the television sketch Doctor Who and Crayola. His work on these shows reunited him with producer Geoff Posner, whom he had worked with on Blackadder and The Young Ones.
