An untitled story that was to be a part of series 10 ultimately went unproduced. The story involved the return of the Sandmen, last seen in Sleep No More.
Synopsis
Thousands of years before Gagan Rassmussen's Morpheus process experiments at the Le Verrier, the Doctor discovers the same process being experimented on Earth. The Doctor finds the outcome turns out exactly the same way as before.[1]
Story notes
Mark Gatiss was to pen the story that was going to be a sequel to his most recent Doctor Who story, Sleep No More. However, when he heard that Steven Moffat was leaving as showrunner and this was possibly his last story for the show he instead decided to "do the thing [he'd] always wanted to do - the Ice Warriors on Mars." The result eventually became Empress of Mars. The story also had a brief career as a third Peladon-story. (DOC: The Ice Warriors On Mars!, NOTVALID: Doctor Who: The Fan Show: The Aftershow - Matt Lucas and Mark Gatiss)
