Starship (a.k.a. interstellar spacecraft) are spacecraft designed to travel between star systems or galaxies.
History
Human starships
- We do not know at which point in history Humans developed starships, although they seem to exist by the early 21st century. (DW: Nightmare of Eden)
- It is possible that the stunnel link between Earth and Arcturus stalled the invention of cost effective starships. (NA: Transit)
Methods
Starships have two basic ways of traversing interstellar space:
- Starships which utilize faster-than-light travel.
- Starship which travel at near to or just under the speed of light but make allowances for the distances involved.
- Ships that put their crew and/or passengers into suspended animation, often using cryogenic suspension.
- Example: The Mayflower (DWM: Profits of Doom)
