Noel Edmonds was a popular light entertainer who appeared on many British television programmes, the most famous of which was probably Noel's House Party (1991-99).

Although still active in the 21st century, the height of Edmonds' popularity may well have been from the late 1970s to the mid-1990s. He was the host of several segments included on Doctor Who DVDs. Many of the cast members of the Tom Baker and Davison eras appeared on his shows — most particularly the Saturday morning phone-in programme Multi-Coloured Swap Shop (1976-1982). Lalla Ward's appearance on Swap Shop is particularly well-known to Doctor Who fans, since it is available not only on DVD, but also in an audio file on Doctor Who at the BBC Volume 3.

In his capacity as the host of Children in Need appeals, Edmonds appeared with Jon Pertwee to introduce Dimensions in Time. He previously appeared in a skit with the Seventh Doctor.
