John Ronald Simm (born 10th July 1970 in Leeds, West Yorkshire) played Harold Saxon, the most recent incarnation of the Master, in Utopia, The Sound of Drums, Last of the Time Lords, and the two-part Christmas special The End of Time. All five of his episodes were written by Russell T Davies.

He is probably best known for his role as Sam Tyler in the BBC drama Life on Mars.
