Gantman was the blind curator of the Museum of Aural Antiquities. After Visteen Krane's death, he and Miles Napton researched the actor's work in preparation for a tribute broadcast. After meeting the Sixth Doctor, he discovered that recordings of Krane's speeches had been altered, which led to the discovery of Krane's new existence as a creature of pure sound, and the truth behind Krane's supposed suicide. After Beth Pernell's crimes were exposed, Krane decided to continue working with Gantman in the Museum. (AUDIO: Whispers of Terror)
