Wallace Hartley

Wallace Hartley was the bandleader of the band aboard the RMS Titanic on 14 April 1912, when the ship struck an iceberg. At that moment, the band had been playing Nearer, My God, to Thee.

Before working aboard the Titanic, he had worked for its rival ships the RMS Lusitania and the Mauretania (AUDIO: The Wreck of the Titan)
