The date has come under strong discussion, and it seems that Russell T. Davies has cleared up the year-ahead thing by having both this and last year's stories in set in the same year, allowing Moffat to have a clean slate for the timeline to be in sync for him. Would explain why series 5 dalouge is saying its around mid-2010 when series 5 is happens, and just so happens to reference the final two specials as being already having happen "last year". | |||
As Saxon3 finally noted to me, the 'next year' sequeneces of The End of Time at the end (Donna's wedding, Jack, ect..) are confirmed to be early 2010. Donna's second wedding was Spring 2010, and series 5 is 2010. I think we just have to come to terms with RTD's choice. He wanted a cleaner slate for Moffat, and syncing the year (having 2008 and 2009 stories both take place in the same year: 2009) would allow Moffat to have that clean slate.
