The Simpsons was a cartoon television show on Earth in the late 20th century and early 21st century enjoyed by Humans.
At Ood Operations, there were various settings for the way Ood could speak. One of them included the catchphrase "D'oh!", a known saying of Homer Simpson, the main character of the show. (DW: Planet of the Ood)
Several specimens of the construct known as Cuddlesomes could be heard to use catchphrases like "Ay Caramba!" and "Eat my shorts", which are closely associated to that used by Bart Simpson. (BFA: Cuddlesome)
Bart Simpson (or someone resembling him) attended Bonjaxx's birthday party on Maruthea. (DWM: Party Animals)
While the Doctor was being pushed in the trolley he said "Worst. Rescue. Ever!" (DW: The End of Time)
- This is a possible reference to the Comic Book Guy from the Simpsons catchphrase where he will say something like "Worst. Episode. Ever." or "Worst. Convention. Ever."
Behind the Scenes
Doctor Who apparently exists in The Simpsons as well. The Comic Book Guy has mentioned it and the TARDIS console [source needed] appeared in one scene. A glum-looking Simpsons-ized version of Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor has also appeared in a few non-speaking cameos.
The show's creator, Matt Groening is reportedly a huge fan of Doctor Who, with the Fourth Doctor being his favourite incarnation of the Doctor [source needed]
In 2009, The Simpsons celebrated its 20th anniversary on the air, and became the longest-running scripted prime time series on American television since Gunsmoke ended a 20-year run in 1975. It is expected to surpass the longevity of Gunsmoke and, barring a collapse in its ratings, stands a fighting chance of equalling Doctor Who's original 26-year run. Also in a Treehouse of Horror episode of The Simpsons Davies confirmed a Doctor Who reference when he met Don Payne at comic con who is consulting producer on his credit it says Don "He will knock 4 times" Payne.
