An activation signal (TV: Rose) also called an activation trigger, (PROSE: Operation Mannequin) was a signal transmitted by the Nestene Consciousness via the London Eye to control the Autons. (TV: Rose) UNIT's Lieutenant David Judd once mentioned, on a secure operations board on the UNIT website, that it was "advantageous" that the activation trigger doubled as a "cross-frequency jamming wave", as disrupted global communication, thus preventing the spread of information about the attack, making it easier for UNIT to cover up. Judd speculated the activation trigger's additional property was due to the Consciousness being weak to certain signals. (PROSE: Operation Mannequin)
