Origins

The title of the song, "All the Strange, Strange Creatures" is a quote from "Love Don't Roam", a song composed for the 2006 Christmas special The Runaway Bride and included on the first soundtrack.

The musical sting at the beginning uses cues from the series 1 track "Westminster Bridge". It has been heard at the beginning of several episodes, including The Runaway Bride.

Outside of Doctor Who

"All the Strange, Strange Creatures" was used by Arsenal F.C. after the conclusion of Requiem For A Tower by Clint Mansell as both Arsenal F.C. and the opposition team lines up in the tunnel before entering the pitch at the Emirates Stadium.

Behind the scenes

In a DVD commentary for 42, executive producer Russell T Davies mentioned that the theme was "moved up" into earlier episodes than initially planned.
