Ian Fleming

Ian Fleming was the creator of James Bond. On 17 October 1940, the Eleventh Doctor and Rory Williams saved Fleming from under some rubble during the London Blitz. They became the inspiration for James Bond, which he wrote around ten years later. (COMIC: The Doctor and the Nurse)

In 1941, he met with Winston Churchill to discuss one of his reports which discussed the disappearance of a mountain. He was told to search for this apparent weapon by Churchill. He discovered that the weapon was being sold by an alien arms dealer Bragnar. (AUDIO: Human Conflict)

Behind the scenes

Ian Fleming wrote Chitty-Chitty-Bang-Bang in 1964, which was soon adapted into a film, co-written by Roald Dahl. Clifford Culley did matte painting for this film. Shawcraft Models provided props for both Chitty Chitty and several James Bond films.

In 2011, Frank Cottrell-Boyce was commissioned to write sequels to Fleming's 1964 classic, beginning with Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Flies Again, which was published in October 2011.

Fleming was played by Jason Connery in Spymaker: The Secret Life of Ian Fleming, and by James D'Arcy in Age of Heroes.

He was the uncle of Lucy Fleming.
