Behind the scenes
- The Teletubbies scene in The Sound of Drums echoed a scene in The Sea Devils in which the Master enjoyed an episode of Clangers.
- John Schwab, Rudolph Walker, Jeremiah Krage, Nick Kellington, Jim Broadbent and David Walliams appeared in the series.
- The episode the Master watches is Numbers - 1 first broadcast on 10 April 1997.
- DWA 20 humourously contemplated a scenario in which the Abzorbaloff and the Wire tried to absorb each other. Ultimately, the Abzorbaloff succeeds in absorbing the Wire, resulting in his stomach sporting a television screen with the Wire's image. In a clear reference to the Teletubbies, the Abzorbaloff exclaims "Eh-oh!" and is said to be getting his own show on CBeebies.
