Golden Mile

The Golden Mile was the name given to a stretch of Blackpool promenade. It had tramlines and illuminations.

By the early 21st century, the seafront was already eroding. Concrete sea defences were built to stop the tide. When the Twelfth Doctor and Clara Oswald visited in 2089, the Golden Mile was completely overgrown. It was covered in smashed lightbulbs from the ruined illuminations and black waves lapped across the tramlines. The sea defences were overwhelmed with water. (PROSE: All the Empty Towers)

During Christmas, donkeys would be present on the Golden Mile. (AUDIO: Death in Blackpool)
