A man was securing a speedboat and chatting to Hopkins, who was finishing a test run of a hovercraft. Surprising them, Lupton, who was being pursued by the Third Doctor, pushed the man into the water, stunned Hopkins and stole the speedboat. He tried to get back onto the speedboat, but Lupton finally succeeded in pushing him off. The man eventually swam to shore. (TV: Planet of the Spiders)
Behind the scenes
The characters of Hopkins and the man mooring the boat are split, renamed and redistributed in the novelisation. There, it is the customer, Mr Pemberthy, who tries out the hovercraft, whereas the owner of the boat yard, Bob Armitage, is watching from the shore. However, it is still the man mooring the boat, the unnamed man in the television story or Armitage in the novelisation, who gets pushed into the water by Lupton.
