The United Races Intelligence Command, or the URIC, was what UNIT became in an alternate version of the 1990s where Silurians, Sea Devils and humans lived in peace. Due to the peaceful interaction of the species, URIC's bases had a greater level of technology than UNIT. The Brigadier and the Third Doctor of this timeline remained part of URIC into the 90s to help keep the peace going, and a Silurian called Thactus worked as the Doctor's assistant.
