The Skonnans were a race of humanoids from Skonnos, first seen in The Horns of Nimon. They are virtually indistinguishable to humans. They used to have a massive empire, controlling hundreds of planets, but there was a massive civil war and the empire collapsed. This caused the death of nearly of the scientists and men of learning, which left the military to control Skonnos. This also lead to the decay of most of Skonnos' technology, leaving them with a broken down star ship fleet.

Eventually, the Skonnans were discovered by the Nimon, who promised them a new empire in exchange for sacrifices of living beings and hymetusite. They gathered these sacrificfies from Aneth, an old subject of the Skonnan Empire. Though Skonnos and its new leader Soldeed obeyed the Nimon's will, the Nimon were eventually killed and their Black hole generator was destroyed.
