Professor Reginald "Reggie" Rigsby was director of Torchwood One in the 1950s following the Vicar's death.
Biography
Early life
Reginald Rigsby attended Eton College where he was head boy. Norton Folgate would later joke that his fag must have been begging for the cane every time he burnt the toast. He went on to work in the Special Operations Executive during World War II and married a woman whom he nicknamed Mrs R. He also became associated with Somerville College and was elected as a fellow. (AUDIO: Parasite)
Torchwood career
When Adam Smith infiltrated Torchwood using his memory manipulation abilities, he replaced Rigsby as leader by convincing everyone that Rigsby was Torchwood's janitor. After Adam was sent into the Void by the Kernaz, Rigsby was reinstated. (AUDIO: Madam, I’m)
Rigsby sent his colleague, Lizbeth Hayhoe, to investigate Project Hermod. There, she found that Project Hermod were experimenting on children by implanting alien fungus into their DNA. Disgusted by these findings, she burnt the building to the ground. Upon her return Rigsby demoted her and disbanded her team, sending her to Room 13.
In the mid-1950s, Project Hermod got their revenge on Torchwood by using gangs to smuggle the remains of the alien fungal parasite in packages throughout London. (AUDIO: Parasite)
Death
Before long, the fungus spread throughout London killing all members of Torchwood, including Rigsby and Hayhoe. The remaining members Norton Folgate and Gideon Lyme, with the help of time traveller Andy Davidson, saved London and took control of Torchwood. (AUDIO: Parasite)
Personality
Coming from a privileged background, Rigsby was pretentious and prone to showing off, often mentioning having dinner at Chequers and namedropping people such as the Lord Chancellor, which Norton and Lizbeth found obnoxious. (AUDIO: Parasite)
