Inspector Gondry was a police officer in the 1950s. He supplied Norton Folgate with a dozen of his best men to cordon off Leicester Square whilst Torchwood cleared up alien war machines.

Some time later, Norton told Inspector Gondry about the mushroom creatures, a story which he believed was "bollocks" until Norton showed him a creature that he had trapped in a police box. Inspector Gondry then had a word with the British Army and arranged to have the streets of London swept clean with flamethrowers.
