Though not through the use of a Chameleon Arch, this is more or less the same that happened with Ann/Anya. Ann has no background beyond being a police officer and a significant part of ''Dalek Universe'' was the Doctor coming to accept that Ann was not a different person to Anya. I can see why it makes sense for Yana and John Smith, who are completely different people to the Master and the Doctor, but this split just means that some of Anya's biography is on another page. | |||

- Although it remained so for a long while, there is precedent (in Yana and Ruth Clayton) to keep "fake persona with full backgrounds and different memory sets" separate from the original individual. Though not through the use of a Chameleon Arch, this is more or less the same that happened with Ann/Anya.
