Rodger Merripit was a fan of Vastra, Jenny Flint and Strax. He was a geologist and warned her[statement unclear] about the land around the cove. He rescued Jenny and Strax when they fell down the hole. He found crude oil reserves under Dudley Skelton's estate and killed him to get the ownership of the land so he could mine it.
