The Andurax was a spacecraft operated by "cosmic caretakers" who went by the titles the Apocalypse Monks (TV: The Return of Doctor Mysterio) or the Vigilant Eremites. (COMIC: Ghost Stories) Using all four gemstones, the Andurax was to siphon excess dark energy from the main universe into an uninhabited one through the Nether Gate of Tersimmon.
