Talk about it here.
A World War II-era Allied Spitfire pilot with the call sign "Danny Boy" once assisted the Doctor to attack a Dalek saucer. His primary mission was to disable the device on the ship that was was artificially illuminating London during a night of the London Blitz. His Bracewell-modified Spitfire, which had a gravitational bubble around it for space travel, had laser guns able to damage Dalek technology.
He led two other Spitfires in the attack on the Dalek ship, both of whom died in the assault. He managed to destroy the dish emitting the pulse, in large part thanks to the Doctor's efforts to disable the ship's shields. After successfully completing his primary mission, the Doctor ordered him to proceed to destroy the Dalek ship. However, the Doctor reversed these orders, when the Daleks threatened to destroy the Earth. "Danny Boy" then returned to Earth. His fate after the battle was unknown. (DW: Victory of the Daleks)
