Mordee, (PROSE: Theatre of War, AUDIO: Disassembled) sometimes called Sevateem, (PROSE: Time Traveller's Diary) was an Earth-like planet had at least part of its surface covered in dense jungle. (AUDIO: The Catalyst)

Description and name

The planet lacked seasons. (AUDIO: The Child) Leela described it as similar to the Congo in Central Africa (AUDIO: The Ghosts of Gralstead) and the jungle planet Garros. (AUDIO: Zygon Hunt)

It was home to giant jungle birds, (AUDIO: The Time Vampire) cave frogs, (AUDIO: The Man at the End of the Garden) and the Horda. (AUDIO: The Catalyst)

The Sevateem never named the planet because they thought there weren't any other worlds. (AUDIO: The Day of the Comet) Leela told the Brigadier that either her planet had no name or the Doctor had never told her its name. (AUDIO: The Revisionists) A version of Leela from an alternate timeline referred to the colony world she came from as Mordee. (AUDIO: Disassembled) One human time traveller also called it "Sevateem". (PROSE: Time Traveller's Diary)

History

In the far future, the planet was colonised by the Mordee expedition. Shortly after they arrived, the Fourth Doctor visited and assisted them in repairing their computer, Xoanon. However, his efforts to help instead drove Xoanon mad, and after the Doctor's departure the Mordee split into two groups, the Sevateem and the Tesh, both of whom worshipped Xoanon. Leela was born and raised as a warrior among the Sevateem. In her youth, she went to an area where only the mightiest of warriors went, revered by the elders of her tribe, called the Tro'faroom. Leela's mother described it to her as a cavern in the very depths of the forest, where the ancient founders of the Sevateem had buried the remains of their first and most noble warriors. After every battle lost or won, her forefathers would take a symbol of the battle, like a skull, or an enemy weapon or a severed limb, and supposedly the room had become so full of the spirits of the dead the forest around would ring with their howling. When Leela went there however, it was just a cave full of bones and dirt, with one metal sign simply with the words "Trophy Room". (AUDIO: The Catalyst)

Centuries after the Doctor's original visit, he returned to the planet. With Leela's help, he escaped the Sevateem's attempts to kill him, restored Xoanon's sanity, and reunited the two tribes. He then left with Leela. (TV: The Face of Evil)

In 2955, two pages of Stanoff Osterling's lost play The Good Soldiers were found on Mordee by Professor Zagglan Crichley. (PROSE: Theatre of War)

Alternate timelines

An alternate timeline version of Leela recalled that she too was a "savage" before her timeline was tinkered with, a process which involved killing her father and altering her early life on Mordee. (AUDIO: Disassembled)
