Phil Collinson was the main producer of Doctor Who from Rose to Journey's End. He was also "series producer" of the initial run of The Sarah Jane Adventures. On some Doctor Who episodes where he was on vacation, like Human Nature, he was temporarily credited as executive producer.
He stated in an interview on Doctor Who Confidential that he originally intended to become an actor.
In 2008 he left BBC Wales to become Head of Drama at BBC Manchester.
