Years later, Beresford had been promoted to Major and was in charge of UNIT while [[Alistair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart|Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart]] was away in [[Geneva]]. He was summoned by Sir [[Colin Thackeray]] of the [[World Ecology Bureau]] (WEB) to deal with the threat of the [[Krynoid]] which had been [[Arnold Keeler]].
