The Doctor claimed to have had a laser spanner when sarcastically questioned by Martha Jones about his sonic screwdriver, saying that it was stolen by Emmeline Pankhurst, a "cheeky woman". However, he may just have been giving a sarcastic reply, and maybe never have had a laser spanner at all.
