The Dream Lord is the dark side of the Doctor, who seems to have control over dreams. He was created by psychic pollen working as parasites on the Doctor's inner darkness. Due to this he appears to be the same being as the Valeyard, a suspicion also held by the meta-crisis tenth doctor.
