Philip Martin (born Philip Charles Martin on 3 July 1938 in Wavertree, Liverpool[1],died 13 December 2020[2]) wrote several stories for the Doctor Who television series and Big Finish Productions. He is best known for creating the character Sil and his race of capitalist, profit obsessed Mentors.
He shared his memories of his Doctor Who career on the documentaries The Making of The Trial of a Time Lord: Part Two, Mindwarp and The Lost Season, the audio commentary for Mindwarp's DVD release and the 64th and 70th editions of Big Finish's charity podcast series Toby Hadoke's Who's Round.
His passing caused the stage play Sil and the Avian Uprising to be cancelled, of which he was to write the script for.[3][4]
