A death's head was a German military symbol. It resembled a skull and bones.
A silver death's head was worn on the collars of some members of the Schutzstaffel, as part of their uniform. Ace noted the death's head on Captain Hartmann's black SS uniform in 1940. Hartmann believed the symbol, along with that of the SS twin lightning flashes, spread fear. (PROSE: Illegal Alien)
The death's head was also worn as a badge on the peaked hats of SS lieutenants, such as by Koenig. (TV: Lost in Time) While in disguise as an SS commander, the Spy Master wore a peaked hat with the death's head badge. (TV: Spyfall)
