When he attended the auction he was dead, re-animated by the Celestis in order to attend the auction. Upon seeing the Doctor, Trask remembered that it was [[the Doctor]] who killed him via drowning, though the Shift later admitted that it had altered Trask's own memory to be more "dramatic."

Trask was Willie Mackay's partner in smuggling weapons from France to Scotland during the Jacobite Rebellion. He betrayed Mackay to the English and seized control of his ship, the Annabelle. Trask became part of Grey's slave-trading ring, and took prisoners on board for transporting to Caribbean plantations. With the Doctor's help, the prisoners rose up against Trask and threw him overboard. (DW: The Highlanders)
