Story notes
- This episode was mistakenly entitled Reality Check, A Clinical Finish and Don't Go Up The Stairs.
- "The Lodger" is also a comic strip story by Gareth Roberts. It is unknown if this story is a adaption of the other--though set report evidence seems to confirm it as a adaptation, and having the same title and writer makes it seem more likely.
- The Doctor will wear a football kit and play on a football team with Craig in the episode.

Rumours
- It is rumoured that either the Timoreen, the Ha'rik, or the Skarkish will appear--primarily because these were all listed as "new aliens" to appear in Series 5[10], and have not appeared in the first 9 episodes (although Ha'rik has also been rumoured to be an unused name for the Eknodine inside Mrs Poggit).
- This episode will be the one that features the Blue Peter Competition TARDIS console. It is thought that, considering the content of this story's comic strip counterpart and the details for the aforementioned competition, that perhaps the TARDIS jumps a time track and is unable to get back to the Doctor's time (perhaps a larger time track), so The Doctor will begin the lengthy operation of building a makeshift TARDIS to find the original, incorporating the Blue Peter winner's design.
- People will be absorbed by on of the Cracks in Time and Space when they go upstairs. Maybe that's why they never come down.
