Margaret Blaine was a young woman who married her American sweetheart Forrest Blaine the day before his death in the Normany landings on 6th June 1944. She killed herself the same day at an inn in Devil's End and preceded to haunt the grounds for the next half-century.

Among those to witness the apparition of Margaret was Mable in 1949, who promptly demanded to leave and ordered her husband Henry to drive her to her father's estate in Cobham.
